Hawaii Wildfire Management Organization (HWMO) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has been partnering with communities, fire personnel, and natural resource managers since 2000 to implement award-winning wildfire prevention, information, and mitigation projects.
Founded and based in Kamuela on Hawaii Island, HWMO now serves as a hub for wildfire-related efforts across Hawaii, with additional partners and projects across the Pacific.
HWMO works with communities and government agency personnel to support, enhance, and "fill in the gaps" with projects that protect lives, homes, and the environment. This is crucial in Hawaii and across the Pacific in the face of increased hazards such as fire-prone vegetation, more frequent drought episodes, and more development in fire-prone areas. HWMO's collaborative and proactive efforts have protected lives and lands from wildfire impacts.
